User-Centered Design

  1. Conduct user research to understand the needs, challenges, and workflows of seafarers and related maritime stakeholders (The Hood case study).
  2. Create personas, user journeys, and service blueprints to guide design decisions.
  3. Validate design hypotheses through user testing, interviews, and feedback loops.

Product Design & Execution

  1. Design intuitive, accessible, and responsive interfaces for web and mobile apps.
  2. Translate product requirements into user flows, wireframes, and interactive high-fidelity prototypes.
  3. Ensure consistency in layout, components, and interactions by maintaining and evolving the design system.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  1. Work closely with BA, PM, and developers.
  2. Participate in grooming, sprint planning, and product reviews, contributing a design perspective to roadmap discussions.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders to balance user needs with business goals and technical feasibility.

Feedback, Testing & Iteration

  1. Conduct usability tests, gather feedback, and iterate designs to improve usability and satisfaction (product metrics ☺️).
  2. Use analytics tools (e.g., Maze) to identify user behavior patterns and friction points.

Communication

  1. Present design decisions to stakeholders and advocate for user-centered solutions.

Domain-Specific Responsibilities (Seafarers Product, The Hood)

  1. Understand maritime industry requirements, compliance standards, and the unique context of seafarers’ work.
